10 Leading to Misery

A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be [there].
—Rosalynn Carter

Who decides ought? who proclaims should? who mandates shall?

During the 1914-1917 era, U S residents did not want to go to war, but a LION idol, as President, got folks to go to war, anyway.

During the 1939-1941 era, U S residents did not want to go to war, but a President, lionised by many as a wonderful fellow, got folks to go to war, anyway.

Those presidents decided that war was better for their friends than trade, regardless of the prices other folks paid: diminished liberty, money stolen from them (aka taxation), heartbreak due to combat deaths of loved ones, and more.

Folks did not want war. The leaders led them to war, anyway.

Leadership is over-rated. Far better to counsel, to consult, to collaborate, to coordinate, than to compel, to coerce, to command, to charge.

9 About LIONS

  • Liberty-that respect that folks get by exercising their freedom (the power to say no) from other parties to interactions. A link to luminous living. Your life without liberty is darker than with liberty.
  • Intelligence- Inquiry. Information, Insight; Individuals through Intelligent  Inquiry by gathering Information achieve Insight
  • Options-LIONS volunteer their lives, and their resources to non-coercively offering options and opportunity to  distressed folks
  • Nurturing- LIONS provide those services and resources that distressed folks require to resume their lives or to upgrade to better living.
  • Service- Who LIONS are; what they do. LIONS look at life, see what is, and what could be, and help bring about better living through voluntary action.

8 LIONS v Government

LIONS-
This is why I WILL NOT cooperate with government folks.

The first letter in LIONS is Liberty, not Loyalty, not fucking Leadership, not fucking Looting. LIONS have no business hanging out with government folks. LIONS have no business demanding that other folks die so that LIONS can fly....
Mind you, government folks administer legal frameworks through lethal means. When you say you value more than breath the maintenance of other folks or of critters, whose breath are you willing to stop to maintain those that you value? How many folks are you willing to kill your dreams to fulfill?

The second letter in LIONS is Intelligence, not Indoctrination, not Incarceration of innocents, not Intellectual Impoverishment... LIONS have no business promoting the destruction of children's minds through compulsory attendance to indoctrination institutes....

Mind you, government indoctrinaters administer legal frameworks through lethal means. When you say you value more than breath the indoctrination of other folks, whose breath are you willing to stop to maintain that which you value? How many folks are you willing to kill your dreams to fulfill?

Third through fifth letters in LIONS are our nations safety-      twaddle....
  • one collective ownership does not exist. only individual ownership is possible.
  • two nation does not exist. nation is a concept that some folks use to bamboozle gullible folks into cooperating with the bamboozlers.
  • three there is no safety through, or for, imaginary or false entities. LIONS have no business promoting collectivism, imaginary entities, or fraud.
Far better to think of those letters as Offering Needed Service. Loving Individuals offer needed service to those who suffer....not groups, individuals. Offer, don't force....Needed, not mandated....Service, not enslavement....

LIONS can be better folks by withdrawing support for using up-to-lethal force to compel folks to behave to their satisfaction. LIONS can do better by ignoring government initiatives

LIONS can do better by ignoring government or coercive institutions

LIONS can do better by promoting self-directed living

LIONS can do better by promoting non-government, non-coercive solutions to social concerns

LIONS can do better to remember that government folks administer legal frameworks through lethal means.

When you say you value more than breath the maintenance of other folks or of critters, whose breath are you willing to stop to maintain those that you value?

How many folks are you willing to kill your dreams to fulfill?

7 U.S. Veterans Recruitment to Lions Club

To those LIONS and friends who promote special consideration for protected classes...

I flat-out oppose special regard for former or current government employees.

YOU need to educate yourself about real life.

YOU need to understand that governments are gangs, that's right, GANGS, made up of people who steal from other people to finance assaults that gang-associated people launch against other people.

YOU need to understand that veterans were gang-bangers working for shot-callers. Start educating yourself with this http://www.lexrex.com/enlightened/articles/warisaracket.htm

You are flat-out wrong to promote special regard for any class of applicants. You are flat-out wrong to promote "stronger communities".

Let me remind you the the first letter of LIONS stands for LIBERTY; liberty makes each individual stronger. There is no such thing as institutional or collective liberty.

6 Lions view of indoctirnation

From Lion Magazine July-August 2012 at http://mydigimag.rrd.com/publication/?i=118591

page 26 1st graf-

The volunteer sector plays an important role in providing education- viewed by many experts-including the United Nations-as one of the root causes of the cycle of poverty.

Please read this sentence and tell me how cool this is....
I have known for years that the indoctrination incarceration industry is in fact set up to create poor people.  Isn't it cool that Lion Wayne wants to make that motive for government schooling clear?

5 The L in LIONS

Dear Lion Sid,

You were quoted as saying that the slogan "Leadership, Intelligence, Our Nation's Safety" makes up the acronym LIONS.  The L stands for Liberty, not Leadership, and not Loyalty.

I like your suggestion that Loving Individuals Offering Needed Service could be the meaning of the acronym LIONS.

4 Lions Website Resource Report

Lions Website Resource Report

Introduction

The purpose of this report is to provide information for consideration by Lions in the area of website design and hosting. I hope that the information that I provide will fertilize Lions’ imaginations toward cultivating ideas for using computer tools for communicating with each other.

I’m going to discuss:
  • Lions-sponsored free website design and hosting
  • Outside free website design and hosting
  • Paid website design and hosting
  • Social Networking
  • Group mail
  • Distribution lists
  • Actions
I will conclude with some remarks.

Club members can use a website as a tool for attracting prospective members.  They can use it as a tool for keeping interested folks informed about their Club.

While there are people who want to be Lions, on their own, most prospects have to be educated about the Lions Club.  A website that doesn’t educate most folks isn’t going to attract most prospects.  If the purpose of a Club website is to attract dedicated wannabe Lions, it only needs a page of contact information.   If the point of the Club website is to educate prospects and others about the Acton Lions Club, such a website has to be more complete.

Another way to use a website is to keep folks up-to-date on Club activities.  Someone who was absent from a meeting could find out what he missed.  A contact link could provide a way for a member to sign-up for whatever service opportunities interested him.  Such a link could also be used for member feedback.

Once Club members have decided to set up and administer a web site they can look at different ways to accomplish that.

Lions-sponsored free website design and hosting

The simplest and quickest way to create a free web site for the Club is to goto http://www.e-clubhouse.org/ .  This site uses templates and easy-to-use applications to help users.   Users can display up to ten photographs on-site.  Goto http://www.e-clubhouse.org/sites/actonca/index.php  Acton CA LIONS e-clubhouse for an example of a Lions e-Clubhouse site

Outside free website design and hosting

More ambitious web administrators can opt for web design sites that offer more layout and content options than are available at http://www.e-clubhouse.org.
There are a lot of sites out there.  They generally are easy to use, and offer upgrades for those folks who want more than just basic web site services.  These sites offer a variety of layouts and themes.  They offer support and how-to articles.

Here are three free website design and hosting services, and examples:

Paid website design and hosting

https://www.ixwebhosting.com/   Pay-to-play web design and hosting

Social Networking

A network is a group of e-mail addresses, with individual accounts, linked together.  Networks differ from group mail services (see below) in that each account can have private access or open access.  Networks also offer opportunities for members to post blog entries on their own blog lines.

There is currently one Acton CA LIONS Club network page at which interested readers may visit

Group mail

Along with Lion e-Clubhouse, Yahoo.com offers a free group mail service to folks at http://groups.yahoo.com.  This service offers shared message archives, photo albums, group event calendars, member polls and shared links, and the capacity for open access messages.  A benefit of this group is that any member can send a message to everyone in the group without having to develop a distribution list.

Distribution Lists

A distribution list is a collection of e-mail addresses under a common name.  A list maker inputs through the use of listing functions a group of e-mail addresses and then assigns a name, for example: Acton Lions.  When sending a message, he enters the group name in the to line, or cc line, or bcc line.  Recipients can respond either to the sender only, or to everyone on the list.  Setting up such a list can be a time-consuming task if there are a lot of addresses to enter onto the list.  Over time, if shared by everyone on the list, such a list can grow into a network.  This network, maintained by the list members, would not be dependent on one person or staff.

Actions

Club members need to decide:
  • If they benefit from having Club-oriented computer resources
  • What they want to accomplish through the uses of Club resources
  • How they want to integrate such uses into Club activities

Once they have resolved these issues, they can delegate the tasks of setting up the infrastructure to interested members.

Club members must make sure that someone notifies Lions International, the Club Multiple District, the Club District, the Club Region, other Clubs, and other Club members.  Promote the website through social networks, group mail, and distribution lists.  A Club website must have visitors to justify its existence, and notifying and promoting will help interested folks find that website.  The more folks find the website, the more likely folks will want to know more about the Club.

Remarks

I realize that this is a long discussion of LIONS Club website choices and communications.  I hope that I have provided sufficient information to allow interested Lions to make informed decisions.
